The Port St. Lucie State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Housing Assistance Program still has funding available for fiscal years 2017/2018 and 2018/2019, which includes funding for persons who have disabling conditions, and/or receive benefits
under SSDI or SSI, etc. Contact Neighborhood Services for additional information about special needs eligibility.
The City of Port St. Lucie has established a list of low income and special needs homeowners who need repair/rehabilitation assistance, accessibility/retrofits, Water/Sewer Assessment or Water/Sewer Connection Payments for their primary residence. We will be taking names for this list until further notice. Funding is available for correction of code enforcement violations and/or health and safety issues such as leaking roofs and nonfunctioning A/C or electrical systems and special needs retrofits to increase access and/or use of the home, structural adaptations or additions of apparatus that is permanently affixed to the house. Documentation of special needs eligibility will be required in the application process. Funding for repair/rehab or special needs/retrofit will be
secured with a deferred mortgage loan that provides for forgiveness of all or a portion of the loan each year. No payments are required, and no interest is charged. Special Needs’ applicants will be
moved to the top of the list; extremely-low and very-low applicants may also be given priority in order to meet state regulations concerning funding percentages. If you need assistance, please call our office at 772-344-4084 to be added to the list or to obtain additional information regarding the program requirements. You may also send an email message to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please understand that funding is limited and not guaranteed. Click here for more information.
